1.23.24 ;_;

hello!

hope 2024 has been treating you all well. it's been decent on my end :p not much of note.

i ended up going to egypt! i wish i couldve made a post, but i forgot my laptop, which made me unable to do much for the time i was there. i went to luxor! it was really nice. beyond all the cool shrines and temples, it's just like any other countryside city. it's beautiful in a way, and i hope that anyone who wants to visit egypt for historical ancient stuff can get to visit luxor :>

that AND not long after, i had a falling out with a friend who was the main motivation behind me updating this blog. it was sad but i dont really like ruminating on things like that. it feels creepy since another real living person is involved and yeah...creepy is the last thing i wanna be. and eventually bla bla bla i just gave up on updating to focus on texting my friends and studying and yeah

however, things are looking up for me! i recently got my oct/nov results back, and guess what? i did good enough!!! good enough to buy golden bomber merch! and two hy4 cds i've been interested in for a while! i won't reveal what i bought...but...i will make a post once they all get here ;>

oh. song of the post!

kinjo no okusan wo shihai suru by kenji darvish and kenji darvish only Golden Bomber! ooh look at me picking the b-side with deranged lyrics. im unique. yeah. its better than tatsuo yome wo ore ni kure but i didnt say that...

and also, i've been revisiting mohamad mounir of all artists lately? idk why. i have fond memories of listening to him as a kid since my parents played his music a lot LOL so it was just like...my music taste was just perfume, oster project, powapowa-p, and...mohamad mounir...my favorite song of his lately has been crescendo from his 1981 album shababeek, and i'd rec that album if you want an idea of how mounir's music sounded when he was under sonar. after he left the label, his music definitely took a turn towards more western pop as american music was starting to become mainstream in egypt at that time too. his albums momken and men awel lamsa are a perfect example of how western music influenced his style at the time. some tracks maintain a sound more local to egypt, but others are drastically different. ^^ genuinely hope u guys can listen to him if u want more music from the 80s and 90s, he captures the aesthetics from that time period in such a unique way, much different from typical music you'd think of from the same time period. he has a lot of albums under different labels, so if you want more synth pop, go for his early sonar albums. tangent over. thanks! (p.s...im listening to crescendo as im typing this. help.)

and a funny thing from today

my mom spotted my tommy heavenly6 laptop wallpaper (see below)

and we had an exchange that was like this

my mom: who is she
me: a singer
mom: (sternly)i know she's a singer. what's her name
me: oh her names tomoko kawase but this is her alter ego tommy heavenly6 she has two alter egos one called tommy february6 one called tommy heavenly6 the whole idea of february6 is that she's innocent but has parts of her personality she represses and heavenly6 was born from a dream february6 had where she accepts what she represses. february6's music is based more on like synthpop and heavenly6 is more grunge-y in style!
my mom: cool
me: ikr

anyways, there's really no particular topic for this post. just wanted to explain why i haven't been doing as much as i wanted to with it. and also to serve as an in-between post until i get my golden bomber merch and make a post of what i got from that haul!! i feel a bit glad that i managed to revisit this blog despite everything. thank you all for reading!
